A Celebration Indeed...
Oh man, it's so strange to have been in Student Ministry and see that those 'kids' that you spent a lot of time and life with are getting older, more mature and even marrying or having their own children. And it's only been a few years since we stepped down. Yikes! Time is a flyin'!!
But we were so thrilled to be able to make Tyson's wedding. It was wonderful to see him so happy, so enveloped with those who truly love him and that he found the perfect woman for him. And she for him.
We both did not want to miss this date for the world. We've always had a wonderful relationship with Tyson. And Michael, well, he has known Tyson since he was just five years old. Michael was going to Chico State and he was attending Esplanade Baptist at the time, now called Church on the Esplanade, but with pretty much the same families who were very involved with the college ministry of that time. So, Michael remembers Tyson when he was five though Tyson doesn't remember that time in history. Oh, to be so young and naive.
I am so glad that this photo turned out so well and it will always hold wonderful memories for us through the years. And Tyson, being just so Tyson, took the time to thank us, truly, for making his wedding, knowing we were back and forth with the Fundraiser for Bola Moyo. And since we know Tyson so well, we knew he really meant it fully.
Thank you Tyson for your love for us and we are thrilled for your new chapter in life with Monica.
We love you and miss you!

Wow, that is so strange. I think Tyson was one of the 4 people that we met on the first (and second) visit to Catacombs! The strangest part is that none of the people that we remain in contact with from Catacombs were there the first couple of nights we attended. The night we met you and Michael was the night we decided to keep on going. That's how we met everyone else.
I remember asking Michael after the meeting who was "in charge" of the meeting and I LOVED his answer and that's how I knew we'd like you two. He painted a picture of a team of people who cared about Catacombs and eventually I figured out that you two kept the vision alive and were the managers of the ministry.
How we found out about the group was another (strange) story. I looked up on the internet "emergent churches, Chico" and through a series of links within various churches/ministries I saw the name "Catacombs" and was compelled to check it out because of it's compelling title. Let's just say the website kicked-a@@ and we knew we'd like this community of people.
We really have!! Thanks for all of your hard work over the years. I know it has not gotten the kind of recognition that it deserves. It seems to me the best kind never does.
Now if we could only find a group of kindred spirits here to commune with. I really believe that finding all of you and having such an immediate, intimate bond was unusually random and yet beautifully providencial. We love you guys!
